Susie Bruce, M.Ed.

Susie Bruce, M.Ed., is director of the University of Virginia's Gordie Center, which works to end hazing and substance misuse among college and high school students nationwide through evidence-informed, student-tested resources. She has served in this role since 2000, where she also directs the APPLE Training Institutes: the leading national strategic training program for substance misuse prevention and health promotion for student-athletes and athletics departments. Susie's areas of expertise focus on health promotion with emerging adults, particularly through peer education, the social norms approach, bystander intervention, and curriculum infusion. She is a Faculty Affiliate of Youth-Nex: The University of Virginia's Center to Promote Effective Youth Development, and she serves on the National Institute of Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism's College Working Group and Responsibility.Org's Education Advisory Board. She earned her Bachelor's and Master's degrees from the University of Virginia.
