Susie Bruce, M.Ed., is director of The Gordie Center at the University of Virginia, which works to end hazing and substance misuse among college and high school students nationwide through evidence-informed, student-tested resources. She directs the NCAA-funded APPLE Training Institutes:  the leading national training symposiums dedicated to substance abuse prevention and health promotion for student-athletes and athletics departments.  She also serves on the national Step UP! Bystander Intervention Program’s Executive Board, the Institute to Promote Athlete Health & Wellness' Advisory Board, the NCAA’s Sexual Violence Task Force, the North-American Interfraternity Conference’s Presidential Commission on Alcohol Use and the James R. Favor and Company Fraternity Health and Safety Initiative Advisory Panel.  Ms. Bruce has over 20 years of expertise in collegiate health promotion, particularly the social norms approach, peer education, and curriculum infusion strategies. She is an expert consultant for groups including the NCAA, the NFL and the Naval Health Research Center.
